Hating Open Pores

Whatever your age, anyone can develop open pores. It really is irritable and uncomfortable to see them in front of the mirror. Ahh, it gives you that low self-esteem. 

The facial pores then open to allow the oil and the dirt inside. Insufficient face washing causes open pores, leading to oily skin containing some dirt. eeW! Contributing factors that can cause open pores include aging, genetics, sun damage, lack of sleep, hormonal changes, improper diet, make-up and puberty

What I do to close my open pores?I use ALUM.

Alum is used as an ingredient in skin whitening toner. Alum's has a strong antibacterial property.

In my research, they said that it is very effective and economical too, which i strongly agree.

I have an oily skin so,  Alcohol and alum tonner is very effective. Add 1 teaspoon of alcohol and ½ teaspoon of alum in 100 ml of distilled water. Store it in a fridge as this will not only help increase the shelf life of the tonner but also act as a refreshing agent when you are warm and sweaty. :)

Papaya Goat's Milk Soap

My first skin reaction to Cyleina Organic Papaya Goat's Milk Soap? uh-hum.. a stingy sensation! Eee!! I don't know if that's normal at first application but I'll be considerate since this is my first time to use that soap, a PGM as what other users call it.

I wanted to use Cyleina's soap because it is organic, natural and no chemicals added. Papaya Goat's Milk is recommended for those who has a SENSITIVE SKIN. It can also be used as a whitening and exfoliant so I wasn't hesitant to buy this product. Glutathione soaps are untolerable by my skin in the face. It is non-organic and chemicals are in the soap so it really is irritating to the skin. I was really hoping that I would not have any break outs after using the soap, but if the pimples or rashes appear, I guess it's time to conclude that PGM is not for me. :(

Keratosis Pilaris (Butlig)

Skin problem

After 5 days of using a different brand of soap, I'm starting to have this rashes in my face. It is like bumps that are small, skin-colored papules. I was so annoyed to see them in the mirror because it is getting worse! :( I searched what type of skin problem I am experiencing and I found out that it is called Keratosis Pilaris. 

Keratosis pilaris is a common skin condition in which a protein in the skin called keratin forms hard plugs within hair follicles.

Symptoms

• Fine, bumpy texture to skin over the outer upper arm and thigh or elsewhere
• Skin-colored bumps the size of a grain of sand
• Slight pinkness may be seen around some bumps

Treatment

Moisturize! Skin creams with medications containing urea, lactic acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, tretinoin, or vitamin D may be recommended by your physician. However, improvement often takes months and the bumps are likely to come back. (http://health.yahoo.net/adamcontent/keratosis-pilaris)

Treatment initially begins by applying non pharmacological measures; it focuses on a change in daily living habits that will help to better the condition. These initial treatments for keratosis pilaris are started by a simply exfoliation or softening of the dermis to begin the reduction of clogged pores.

Exfoliation is combined with a mild cleansing soap with gentle abrasive properties that do not dry out the skin but simply removes the dead skin cells. Another initial preventative method is to take tepid, brief showers and using a humidifier, especially during the winter months when low humidity dries out the skin.

The condition with significant inflammation may improve with the use of medium-potency emollient-based topical steroid preparations or bettr with our biological solution. Inflammation is usually reduced markedly by 7 days, at which point if a steroid is used it should be discontinued.

In more severe cases drug treatment for keratosis pilaris with Over the Counter agents consists of moisturizers, including the emollients and humectants, hydrocortisone, and keratin-softening agents (alpha-hydroxy acids [AHAs] and urea) will be prescribed.
